Gavin's First Prayer

For quite a while we've encouraged Gavin to pray with the rest of the kids at night. He shot us down every time until last night. He was a little way from the rest of us, but he kneeled down and was clearly saying a "personal prayer." After his amen, he was very proud of himself and we were proud of him too. After we told him what a good thing he had done, he told us proudly, "I said a prayer. I prayed to Elmo."

Well, at least he's praying.

  1. LOL, I love it. Can't ask for perfection the first time around I guess.

  2. He's so funny... if this is all he's got to keep my kids from being baby hungry I don't think it will work.

  3. Rochelle stayed home from church sick today, so I got to deal with the kids on my own. Gavin decided to run to the back of the cultural hall and run in circles (loudly). When I tried to take him to the hall, he ran away (even louder). Good thing I had Benjamin there to help catch him from the opposite direction. He continued to run in circles in the foyer (louder still), this time bringing Gabby into the party. When I tried to take him to primary, he screamed and insisted I take him to nursery. I was glad he didn't freak out when he realized Rochelle wasn't there. By the time church was over, I received several comments about his "energy."

As far as the kinds of things your kids might not appreciate from Gavin... He has broken the other kids' toys, colored on their walls, painted on their walls, beat them up, pulled their hair, played Benjamin's trumpet (yes, he can make it buzz), gotten into Naomi's & Gabby's underwear, played Naomi's flute, turned the bathroom into a swamp, and generally turned the other kids' rooms into disaster areas. But, then again, this was a slow week.
